PATRIOTS’ SETH FALLON SIGNS WITH GSC

PARKERSBURG — Mentioning the term “legacy signee” to Parkersburg South point guard Seth Fallon when discussing his decision to play basketball for Glenville State brings a smile to his face. Despite the fact his father Mike and mother Ann played there and sister Mykalyn signed on to attend and play basketball before she followed outgoing women’s head coach Charles Marshall to W.Va. State, attending Gilmer County’s NCAA Division II college was always his choice. “I was looking for any school that would give me a chance,” said Fallon. “Coach (Justin) Caldwell offered me and coach (Ot) Elmore and he were coming to my games and texting me checking on how I was doing and it meant a lot. I felt like they really wanted me and that is where I wanted to be.” Caldwell’s interest in the Patriots’ guard began with a phone call on July 10, 2018 before Fallon left for an AAU tournament in Dallas on the Under Armour circuit with the TMPW Explorers, based out of Wheeling. “The first time I talked to him he offered me a full ride and that meant a lot he was putting me as his No. 1 target for the class of 2019,” said Fallon. And so Fallon’s John Hancock officially materialized on his intent letter among friends and family Friday inside the Parkersburg South cafeteria. A signature ending a journey including interest from Division I programs Marshall and Ohio. “I feel like I put in the work for them,” said Fallon when asked if he expected D-I offers. “But I feel I will have more success at Glenville.” Though Fallon doesn’t know what position his success will come at, he is confident Caldwell has the Pioneers on the way up following a few down years. “He (Caldwell) is doing a good job getting the program back to a winning mentality,” said Fallon. “He is doing the right things and the team will be turned around in a couple of years.” The Patriot adds his winning experience to the Pioneer product next season. South has yet to miss the state tournament with Fallon leading the way at the 1 spot as court manager. Finding the open man has not been a problem as he has averaged 4.7 assists per game over the past two seasons, including a 5.7 help mark per contest through seven games of the 2018-19 season. His scoring also has increased as he assumed the role of elder statesmen this campaign. Fallon currently tallies 14.8 points per game for a young, competitive Patriots team currently 2-5. Fallon believes he will major in accounting. “I like math,” he said.
